It was early morning. The temple bells echoed through the air. Three families—the Malhotras, the Oberois, and the Mehtas—stood at the main entrance of the temple, looking anxious. A similar restlessness was etched across their faces, as if their fates were tied to a single thread.
The priest lit the lamp and beckoned the three families toward him.
In a low, grave voice, he spoke:
"The horoscopes of your sons indicate a 'Sarpa Dosha' (Serpent Curse). Tomorrow is a very heavy day. If the remedy is not performed, none of the three will remain safe."
The three mothers looked at each other, fear clearly reflecting in their eyes.
Naina Malhotra asked in a trembling voice,
"Priest ji, surely there must be a way to save our children?"
After a moment of silence, the priest replied,
"There is a way... but it is not easy. There is a girl... whose horoscope possesses the specific alignment required to nullify the curse on these three. If all three marry that girl... their lives can be extended."
The three fathers—Rajveer, Vikrant, and Raghav—were stunned.
Rajveer took a deep breath and asked,
"But Priest ji, how can one girl marry three men? What will society say?"
The priest replied calmly,
"Sometimes, there is something higher than society—Destiny. Now the decision is yours: the lives of your sons, or the talk of the world."
Silence fell over the temple. The three families looked at one another and then bowed their heads without saying a word.
After a while, Vikrant Oberoi spoke:
"If this is the only way... then we shall finalize this alliance together."
On the other side of town, in the old quarter, Meher Sharma was making tea for her aunt. Her face reflected both innocence and exhaustion.
Aunt Rekha, reading the newspaper, said,
"Listen, a wealthy family is coming today with a proposal. It’s a great opportunity for our Reema, understood?"
Meher gave a faint smile—she knew none of this would concern her.
But in the afternoon, when the three families arrived at her small villa and the proposal was made for "Meher"... the ground slipped from beneath her feet.
Uncle Mahesh asked nervously,
"But these three boys... and only one marriage?"
Rajveer Malhotra spoke directly,
"This is a slightly different arrangement. But in exchange, we will give two crore rupees."
Rekha’s eyes sparkled. Greed masked her humanity.
She said without hesitation,
"If Meher has no problem with this, then we have no objection."
The teacup slipped from Meher’s hand. Tears welled up in her eyes.
"Auntie... I don't want to marry anyone... let alone three people?"
But Rekha cut her off—
"Don’t think about your life; think about ours. We are getting so much money, and they are from such prestigious families."
Meher fell silent. She wiped her tears and looked toward the sky.
"Perhaps this is my destiny..."
Meanwhile, in the three mansions, the sons received the phone calls.
Arav Malhotra, who was in London, shouted angrily,
"Dad! What nonsense! I will not marry some stranger."
Rudraksh Oberoi said over the phone,
"Dad, this isn't a business deal, it's life!"
And Dev Mehta, the quietest of them all, spoke,
"I have made my own decisions until today. I won't be able to do this."
All three refused.
But when their parents spoke sternly—
"If you don't come, you will be disinherited from our business,"
The silence of the three sons said it all.
After the calls ended, the same question lingered in their minds—
Who is this girl whose fate will now decide our lives...?
🌙
Meher sat by the window. Clouds had gathered in the sky outside—like the warning of a coming storm.
She had no idea that the next day, those three faces would enter her life...
They would change her destiny, but perhaps, they would steal her peace forever.
Who will be the first one to look into Meher’s eyes and touch her soul?
And whose heart will truly embrace this "unspoken bond"?
